The Cambridge Police Department is promoting three lieutenants to the rank of deputy superintendents Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the police station, 125 Sixth St. near Kendall Square.

Due for promotion are John J. Albert, who joined the force in 1987 and supervises traffic enforcement; Paul J. Ames, who also joined in 1987 and has been performing such roles as commanding the Tactical Patrol Force and coordinating case management for the Investigations Section; and Christine A. Elow, who joined in 1995 and is commander of the Professional Standards Unit.

โ€œThe deputies will join the command staff and contribute in a meaningful way to the department to strategize on how to most effectively deliver policing services in collaboration with the community,โ€ Commissioner Robert Haas said. โ€œTheir shared vision will greatly enhance our efforts.โ€

The Cambridge Police Department has a sworn compliment of 273 Officers and 42 civilian personnel responding to more than 100,000 calls for service yearly.
