		<description>The cost does seem high and I&#039;d certainly agree that the lack of transparency is an issue so I&#039;m glad that the council has raised this as an issue.  It is my belief that the primary focus is not on the Gates/Crowley incident but in general on policies and practices in many areas. I did go to one of the public subcommittee meetings and spoke on behalf of the GLBT Commission (I&#039;m a co-chair). We have been working with the police department for several years, got GLBT training included in their standard training (our Commission got an award for facilitating this). There is a GLBT liaison in the department (Steve Ahern); he and Chris Burke, a supervisor, have been attending and participating in our Commission meetings and Robert Hass, the Police Commissioner has been very supportive.</description>
