From top are Dr. Omid Farokhzad, Brian Halligan and Craig Wheeler, Cambridge finalists for an entrepreneurial award.

Three Cambridge executives are finalists in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year New England Award, one of 26 awards offered in the United States alone in the finance firm’s quarter-century-old worldwide contest.

The local executives are Dr. Omid Farokhzad, co-founder and director of Bind Biosciences Inc.,  of Sidney Street, which specializes in creating therapeutic nanoparticles; Brian Halligan, founder and chief executive of Hubspot Inc., of First Street, a maker of marketing software; and Craig Wheeler, president and chief executive of Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc., of West Kendall Street.

They’re part of a group of “outstanding entrepreneurs” selected by judges made up of previous winners of the award, leading CEOs and private capital investors and other regional business leaders, according to Ernst & Young officials. How they fare among 25 regional finalists will be revealed at a June 15 event at the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel.

Out of the 25 finalists, six category winners will go to the national awards gala, to be hosted by Jay Leno on Nov. 12 in Palm Springs, Calif.
