A Cambridge resident is needed to fill a vacancy on the Fresh Pond Advisory Board, which advises the city manager and city boards and commissions on implementation of the Fresh Pond Reservation Master Plan and provides a forum for public discussion and evaluation of proposals for land-use and land-management projects at the Fresh Pond Reservation, a critical element of the city’s water supply and the city’s most heavily used open space.

The board meets at least four times a year, on Thursday evenings; it includes up to 18 members, of which as many as a dozen are resident volunteers with active, long-term knowledge of the reservation and not city employees or consultants to the city. Members are appointed for three-year terms and may be reappointed at the city manager’s discretion. People with expertise in landscape architecture, park management and environmental management are encouraged to apply.

For information, call Nancy Schlacter at (617) 349-4302. Letters and/or resume should be sent by Oct. 5 via e-mail; mailed to City Manager Robert W. Healy at 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02139; or by faxed to (617) 349-4307.
