There are rumors of a Chez Henri purchase making the rounds – potential good news for anyone missing the French-Cuban eatery since it closed in November.

But while there’s no promise those rumors will bear out, or that the future Chez Henri will be anything like the old one for its 19-year run near Harvard Square, there’s an absolutely confirmed return of the restaurant’s signature Cubano sandwich and other favorites at a one-day pop-up dinner Feb. 28.

“We’re so excited,” the restaurant’s Facebook page announced Wednesday morning, noting the event was “reservations only – and we expect to fill up fast.”

The menu: slow-roasted pork or veggie Cubanos; French onion soup gratinee; a chicken and spinach empanadas duo; Ceviche Mixta plaintain chips; conch fritters with guava barbecue; Paella Valencia with saffron rice, New England shellfish and chorizo; a sliced hanger steak with frites; and a chocolate bread pudding with salted caramel and berries.

“Come get your Cuban sandwich fix, because you don’t know when will pop up again,” managers warned.

The servings come between 6 and 11 p.m. Feb. 28 at Mariposa Bakery, 424 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Call (617) 642-1722 for the required reservations.
