020214i-396-Putnam-AveMalia Gomez, 40, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of Dana Robinson, 46, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas said Sunday afternoon.

Gomez and Robinson are Cambridge residents.

Gomez has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and armed assault with intent to murder.  She is expected to be arraigned Monday in Cambridge District Court.

According to authorities, at about 6:23 this morning, Cambridge Police were called to the apartment building at 396 Putnam Ave., in the Cambridgeport neighborhood, for reports of an unconscious man.

Officers found the victim on the porch, suffering from a stab wound. The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said. An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Cambridge and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are investigating. Officials say the incident does not appear to be random and the defendant and victim were known to each other.
