A document-shredding event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at the Central Square post office, 770 Massachusetts Ave., to help residents dispose of important documents safely and stay safe from identity theft.

Information will also be available on other ways to avoid identity theft, fraud and scams, as well as on the city’s recycling and composting programs.

The Shred Day Event is to be held snow or shine, according to its hosts and organizers: the Cambridge Consumers’ Council and Public Works Department, post office, Office of the Attorney General and Executive Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulations.
