Residents and interested members of the community (including private sector and municipal employees, business owners, students and others) are invited to request a formal role in a new Citizen Committee on Civic Unity.

The committee will serve in an advisory role to the City Council and city manager; engage the public; and provide opportunities for constructive discussions regarding race, class, religion, gender, disability and sexual orientation to promote equity, fairness and unity within the city organizational structure and broader Cambridge community.

It is expected that the committee will hold regular monthly meetings that may include presentations by guest speakers, city staff and various experts. The work is intended to be ongoing, with specific initiatives and goals created as the process moves forward.

Prospective members should send a letter via email; fax at (617) 349-4307; or mail by May 30 to City Manager Richard C. Rossi describing briefly the applicant’s interest in the committee, relevant background, skills and related experience.

The mailing address is City of Cambridge, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02139.
