From Boston 2024, May 18: A rare gathering of more than 30 Olympians and Paralympians with ties to New England took place May 16 at Boston’s TD Garden. The athletes, all of whom either live or lived in New England, represented Team USA in a variety of events at Olympic Games ranging from St. Moritz 1948 to Sochi 2014.

Those gathered included Cantabrigians Mary McCagg, of the 1996 Summer Olympics, who has been an executive at Candlewick Press in Somerville; and Gevvie Stone, of the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The athletes came to learn more about efforts to bring the Olympics to Boston in 2024 from a variety of speakers, including International Olympic Committee member and four-time Olympic medalist Angela Ruggiero, gold medalist Cheri Blauwet, silver medalist Michelle Kwan and Scott Blackmun, chief executive of the United States Olympic Committee.
