The Cambridge Youth Dance Program company is looking for “serious dancers” to become part of a pre-professional youth performance ensemble for the 2015-16 season. Auditions are Tuesday.

The company dances in annual June recitals, the traditional “What the Dickens” holiday show, a spring concert and at Harvard Square’s Mayfair.

A ballet audition – which will be used to place students in ballet, jazz and modern dance classes –  will begin at 5 p.m. for ages 8 to 11; at 6 p.m. for ages 12 to 13; and at 7 p.m. for ages 14 and up, followed by a tap audition in each age and time bracket, said organizers at the dance company, which is hosted at the Deborah Mason School of Dance in Somerville.

Ballet is a requirement, taken two to five times a week depending on placement for students who are dedicated to their ballet, jazz, and/or modern studies. Tap may be taken as a single subject without a ballet requirement.

“The length of each ballet audition will vary, so all tappers should arrive and be ready,” organizers said.

The Deborah Mason School of Dance is at 624 Somerville Ave., near Porter Square in Somerville.

Pre-registration for auditions is here.
