From Lee Farris, Jonathan King, Shelley Rieman, Nancy Ryan and Kathy Watkins of the Cambridge Residents Alliance Executive Committee, Nov. 9, 2015: Our thanks to all of those residents who went to the polls and voted for City Council and School Committee candidates. Their engagement is critical to achieving responsible and democratic governance in our city.

LetterCongratulations to all the elected candidates. We also appreciated the active participation of the other candidates, whose input contributed to a serious and wide-ranging consideration of the policy choices facing our city.

Thanks also to the more than 150 volunteers for the Cambridge Residents Alliance who distributed literature, hosted house parties, forwarded emails, attended candidate forums, held signs, canvassed in their neighborhoods and helped get out the vote for the Nov. 3 municipal elections. These activities increased the electoral participation that is so vital to good governance.

We also want to recognize the work of the dozen members of the Cambridge Residents Alliance’s Election Committee who prepared an incisive questionnaire, analyzed the candidates’ responses and reviewed the records and backgrounds of the candidates. This was essential to arriving at our endorsement list.

We look forward in the coming year to working together for a livable, affordable and diverse Cambridge.
