From Susan Yanow, Aug. 26, 2016: In the upcoming state representative primary in the 26th Middlesex District, those of us who care about reproductive rights have a clear choice. Mike Connolly, a committed progressive who has been endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and by Massachusetts NOW, is running against the incumbent, Tim Toomey, who received a 100 percent “pro life” rating by Massachusetts Citizens for Life in 2014. It’s important to note that Toomey is the only state representative in Cambridge or Somerville who is anti-choice. He is clearly out of step with our district.

LetterAccess to abortion and reproductive health care are rights that cannot be taken for granted. Access to abortion is a critical part of health care, but abortion rights are supported by only a slim majority in our current State House. Massachusetts should stand in contrast to other states across the country that have limited access to abortion and family planning.

We deserve a leader who will actively champion our rights to a full range of reproductive health options, including abortion, and who will build a stronger pro-choice majority in the house. Mike Connolly will be that champion.

Vote pro-choice when you vote in the upcoming primary Sept. 8. Join me in electing Mike Connolly as our state representative.
