The 21st Annual Danehy Park Family Day is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17. Organizers say to expect a “fun-filled day of children’s amusement rides, arts and crafts, music and roving performers” as well as performances throughout the day at the children’s stage and free hot dogs, chips, sodas, kites and T-shirts while supplies last.

The free event, sponsored by the City of Cambridge, attracts more than 4,000 people annually. The 55-acre Danehy Park, at 99 Sherman St., North Cambridge (near Garden and New streets), can be reached by 74 or 78 bus from Harvard Square; the 83 bus from Central Square; or by shuttle bus from the Alewife MBTA Station.

Picnics and lawn chairs are encouraged. The rain date is Sept. 18. Information is here.
