Numbers surge on final day of early voting, reaching 27 percent of residents registered
On the last of 11 days of early voting in Cambridge, there was turnout of 2,872 people at the city’s five polling places, setting an 11-day record and totaling 19,514 citywide.
Early voting, required by the state, began Oct. 24 and ends Friday; Election Day is Tuesday.
There are 71,370 registered voters this year in Cambridge (up from 63,325 last year), according to Election Commission figures lacking final mail-in registration figures, which puts the number of early voters in the city at 27.3 percent of everyone who could cast a ballot in the city.
