From the City of Cambridge, Nov. 30, 2016: Residents interested in volunteering to serve on the nine-member Human Services Commission are asked to send a letter of interest and résumé by Jan. 11.

The commission advises city managers on human services policy issues, needs assessment and funding allocations. In collaboration with the Department of Human Service Programs, the commission also promotes activities that enhance the quality of life for residents.

Over the years, the commission has responded to local needs by recommending Community Development Block Grant funding for a wide range of programs offered by the city and community agencies.

Commission members serve without compensation. They usually meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Citywide Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square.

For information, call Mike Payack at (617) 349-6208 or send email to [email protected]. Residents who wish to apply may send their information to Louis A. DePasquale, City Manager, City of Cambridge, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge MA 02139.
