From the Boston Lyric Opera, Feb. 15, 2017: Artists from Boston Lyric Opera’s community engagement department visited Cambridge schools in February to perform excerpts from composer Engelbert Humperdinck’s 1893 “Hansel and Gretel,” giving one-hour interactive programs introducing opera to area students.

The visits were part of Boston Lyric Opera’s Artist Classroom Visits program, which went to 16 schools in all and, during school vacation week, six Boston Public Library branches.

The Cambridge presentations were Feb. 9 at the Cambridge-Ellis Elementary School, 80 Trowbridge St., and Feb. 14 at the Cambridgeport School, 89 Elm St.
