From the Dennis Carlone campaign, June 4, 2017: A summer fundraiser for City Council incumbent Dennis Carlone is planned for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 18 at ZuZu, 474 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Keeping in mind the date falls on Fathers Day, Carlone said he hoped people would come “after lunch or before your dinner plans.”

“I’d love your support in kicking off my 2017 campaign for reelection,” Carlone said in a press release. “Bring friends and family and let’s talk frankly about solutions and discuss ways to improve our future.” He went on to say:

I will be speaking on the critically important issues facing our city and how I plan to protect and improve our future. Each day, we are faced with two simple questions: How do we want to plan and protect our city? And are our priorities based on a set of shared common values? I work on behalf of our city every day with these thoughts in mind, seeking to protect them.

While he thrived on constituent encouragement, feedback and volunteer efforts, he said he “could not succeed in my bid for reelection without your financial support” and noted that he doesn’t accept contributions from real estate developers, “because many will eventually be before the council for zoning changes.”

“This means we need to work even harder to run a strong campaign that won’t be drowned out by special interests,” he said.
