Police are hoping the public can help identify two men on a spree of car thefts and car breaks in Cambridge and Somerville that leads into Boston.

The men were caught on camera Sept. 18 smashing a car window and taking a suitcase from inside that car on Windsor Street in Cambridge – and seen driving a car that had been reported stolen from Somerville three days earlier, said Jeremy Warnick, director of communications and media relations for Cambridge police.

The car stolen from Somerville was recovered in Boston on Sept. 20, a day after the same men – wearing the same clothes – were caught on camera at 506 Beacon St., Boston, abandoning another stolen car. This one had been reported stolen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology parking lot at 158 Mass Ave., Cambridge, the previous day.

People with information or questions are asked to call Cambridge police detective Michael Miceli at (617) 349-9390 or MIT police detective Loren Montgomery at (617) 324-8140.
