Lesley University has named Sandra St Fleur as its inaugural vice president of equity, inclusion and justice. The appointment was announced Tuesday.

St Fleur’s hiring is part of Lesley’s agenda of “inclusive excellence,” which aims to “transform systems and policies to create an inclusive and antiracist campus culture,” the university said in a press release. It conducted a national search to find “a candidate whose experience and perspective will be invaluable in advancing the transformative changes we envision,” Lesley president Janet L. Steinmayer said.

Most recently, St Fleur was a senior director at the UCLA Health system in Los Angeles, but she earlier directed organizational development and talent management teams at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at Sasaki, a Watertown architectural and planning firm.

St Fleur earned a Master of Business Administration degree at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Boston College.
