State Department of Transportation workers will shift and narrow all four lanes along Alewife Brook Parkway Bridge over the MBTA Walkway by 5 a.m. Tuesday, a configuration that’s expected to last “throughout the winter months,” according to a Friday email from the state agency.
The lane shift is needed to accommodate future maintenance work to be performed on the bridge, the department said.
Drivers should expect delays and will need to slow down and use caution, it said.
“Expect lane closures on Alewife Brook Parkway overnight this weekend and Monday night,” the department warned. “Appropriate signage, law enforcement details and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.”
