City-sponsored community events and those in city parks are prohibited for the next three months,ย through March 31, the City of Cambridge announced Thursday. While city buildings will be closed to the public, offices willย remain open for business conducted online or by phone.

โ€œWith a post-holiday surge inย COVID-19 cases expected in the commonwealth, we are temporarily suspending in-person appointmentsย at cityย buildings,โ€ City Manager Louis A. DePasquale said in an email. โ€œAfter conferring with the cityโ€™s chief public health officer, thisย is a prudent step for the city to take to protect the health and well-being of both our staff and the public.โ€
