City-sponsored community events and those in city parks are prohibited for the next three months, through March 31, the City of Cambridge announced Thursday. The city has not permitted events or gatherings through its special events process since March 16 because of the coronavirus pandemic. For the safety of the public and city staff, in-person appointments at city buildings, including contactless holds pickup at the Cambridge Public Library, are suspended from Saturday through Jan. 18.
While city buildings will be closed to the public, offices will remain open for business conducted online or by phone.
“With a post-holiday surge in COVID-19 cases expected in the commonwealth, we are temporarily suspending in-person appointments at city buildings,” City Manager Louis A. DePasquale said in an email. “After conferring with the city’s chief public health officer, this is a prudent step for the city to take to protect the health and well-being of both our staff and the public.”
