A suspect captured

Xavier Bautista’s family buried him this week. They told Cambridge Day’s Rebecca Goodman about his devotion to his family, his “goofy” prankster side, his secret aspirations. His fiancee told us “I have a five-year-old who shouldn’t feel the way he feels right now.”

The day of Bautista’s funeral was the same day a member of the group that shot him was arraigned and charged with murder. Goodman, Chloe Taft and Tavishi Chattopadhyay have been working tirelessly to report on this story and others related to the tragedy and its aftermath.

We’re in the last six weeks before the primary election Sept. 1, which for all of those seeking to represent Cambridge and Somerville is the decisive moment in the race. Cambridge Day hosted a packed house for a debate between State Rep. Marjorie Decker and her challenger Evan MacKay. We have that story plus reports from other races. And, U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Seth Moulton, D.-Mass., came to our office to talk about where federal and local issues intertwine.

We have these stories and more below and on the site.
