Members of large savings institutions such as Bank of America all too often have horror stories to share of bad customer service. All of America got one gigantic, shared story to tell when banks collapsed two years ago after a torrent of negligent lending and were bailed out by the federal government — only to continue to reward top executives with extravagance and restrict lending that was supposed to keep the wider economy rolling.

In response, Arianna Huffington and others are renewing a call to move your money to smaller, local institutions from the irresponsible giants, and they’ve created moveyourmoney.info to make it easier. Merely type in a ZIP code and the Web site will show you nearby community banks that scored a B or higher in the Institutional Risk Analytics database.

Cambridge folks will find dozens and dozens of branches representing more than 30 institutions, including Cambridge Savings Bank, East Cambridge Savings Bank and the Cambridge Trust Co.
