On Friday, for two hours, the building is yours.

The Russell-West Cambridge Youth & Community Center is being thrown open from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for whatever community members want to do, said Sean McLaughlin, the center’s teen-program director.

“Come play some pingpong, pool, video games, use our enormous gym, our computer lab, fitness room,” he said. “Come and use the center however you would like.”

Within reason, one assumes.

There is one event planned for the evening: a showcase and display of the work of Indie Spirit, a program for preteens that “promotes individuality in a collaborative way,” McLaughlin said.

The center is at 680 Huron Ave., Cambridge. A printable flier for the free event can be found by clicking here, or McLaughlin can be contacted for information by phone at (617) 349-6314, by e-mail or on Facebook.
