In something of a stunner, when Deli Magazine website added all factors (including the opinions of its writers and a selected jury), Somerville’s Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys emerged a strong No. 1 in its Best of New England 2010 Emerging Artists Poll rather than third — with bands Mellow Bravo and Sidewalk Driver about a half-point behind on a scale of five, The Wandas demoted to No. 4 from fans’ choice of No. 2 and Brothers McCann, which had been No. 1 in the fan poll, dunked all the way down to No. 7.

(Notable others: Blue Button at No. 8; the poppy Spirit Kid, formerly the Emeen Zarookian band, appearing out of nowhere to take No. 13; the elegiac Gem Club at No, 19; Abbie Barrett in a three-way tie at No. 23; Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents at a surprisingly low No. 40, considering their universal buzz; and Ad Frank & the Fast Easy Women at a surprisingly low No. 41, considering they’re Ad Frank & the Fast Easy Women.)

See the first-place winners Thursday at T.T. the Bear’s Place. Trust the writers, editor and jury of Deli and more than 600 voting fans and you won’t be sorry. In fact, you’ll probably be blown away.
