Eating Disorder Education Day events run 4 to 7 p.m. in Harvard Square
The Cambridge Eating Disorder Center has events beginning at 4 p.m. today for Eating Disorder Education Day, including Free, confidential eating disorder screenings; a Q&A with registered dietitians on dieting, healthy eating and exercise; discussion with clinical staff on the signs, symptoms and risks of eating disorders; and take-home information on eating disorders.
The event is at the center, 3 Bow St., Harvard Square, and runs through 7 p.m.
“Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses,” said Sherifa Kaplan, a clinical administrator at the center, noting that as many as 10 million U.S. women and 1 million men have an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia “and many more struggle with binge eating disorder.”
The event is open to the public and confidential.
