It’s official: Nomination papers for City Council and School Committee candidates become available July 1, according to the city’s Election Commission.

Requirements to run in the Nov. 5 election are: being registered to vote in Cambridge (which means being at least 18 years old), being a resident of Cambridge and bringing in between 50 and 100 certifiable signatures of people supporting your candidacy.

Incumbents and challengers in what looks like a crowded field can pick up nomination papers and an information kit with important dates, commission policies, services and publications at the commission’s office, 51 Inman St. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 1.

The deadline to file nomination papers is 5 p.m. July 31.
