Q&A

Edited and condensed from recent public forums.

What other ideas besides the Affordable Housing Overlay can be used to create affordable housing, and how can you create more housing while protecting existing tenants?

What we’re going to do is vote for affordable housing. That’s it. But now, who’s going to determine who gets these units? And who’s going to determine at what price? We have 190 different nationalities, and each one wants affordable housing. That’s how many different nationalities there are. I looked that up and I know that. Everybody wants affordable housing, so everybody gets one here, one there, one there, and I agree on that. That’s what I’m going to be voting for.

What is your approach to climate change policy?

The environment is a key issue. We know all about it. And anything that we can come up with, we support 100 percent – solar panels, it takes a lot to install solar panels, and all the jobs that come with it and everything. I support the environment 100 percent, and I’m voting for that.

Which City Council vote from the past do you wish you’d present for to cast the deciding vote?

We just want to move forward with jobs, housing, affordable housing, seniors. We want to take care of the environment, education, Veterans Affairs, 9/11, just do all the good things for the neighbors.

Is Cambridge addicted to growth? Is the way Cambridge grows healthy?

I support growth, but I support affordable housing. They give us the business, we give them the business, you know, that’s business. So that’s a good way to go.
