Nominations are open for the city’s Fifth Annual Visionary Awards, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday. The awards, which recognize Cambridge businesses, institutions and nonprofits taking part in groundbreaking collaborations and discoveries, will take place Nov. 17 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

The awards are presented to employees, educators, social service organizations and companies helping to transform the world, the chamber said.

“Cambridge is exceptionally fortunate to have a business, education and nonprofit ecosystem designed to foster meaningful contributions that enhance and enrich people’s lives in the city and beyond,” said David Maher, president and chief executive of the chamber, in a press release.

Nominations may be submitted via the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce website.

Past Visionary Award recipients include life-science and medical-device companies that developed new classes of medicines and therapeutics; a local nonprofit foundation that boosted public school student participation in Stem education; a neighborhood group that led efforts to revitalize a key business district; an arts consortium behind the development of a self-sustaining collaboration for diverse populations; a beauty salon with charitable contributions that provided compassionate support to women suffering from cancer; and a collaboration between a nonprofit and university that provided thousands of meals to families in need.
