Bernard Goldberg, 94, of Chestnut Hill, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 30, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of 59½ years to Judith (Cohn). Loving father of Jodi Goldberg and Kevin McCreesh and Carla and Joel Greengrass. Adored grandfather of Alexandra, Ethan and Zoe. Cherished son of the late Mosier B. Goldberg and the late Sarah Goldberg (Gorovitz). Beloved twin brother of the late William Goldberg, the late Agnes Goldberg, and the late Bernyce Neitlich. Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Bernard graduated from Cambridge Latin and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 1998. He received his B.A. from Tufts University in 1950 and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1953. He practiced law alongside his brother for more than 60 years in their Central Square, Cambridge firm, and early in his career, served five consecutive terms as a Cambridge city councillor before being elected vice mayor of the city. The twins were recognized in 2004 for their contributions to the community with the dedication of William and Bernard Goldberg Square.

Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline, on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m., and interment at Adath Jeshurun, 350 Grove St., West Roxbury. Shiva will be held at the family home following the burial, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Bernard’s memory may be sent to the Michael J.
