Spending the holidays with family, acquaintances and co-workers you may know only from Zoom squares means being ready for anything. Not sure if you’re up to the task? Comedy can help. Nova Comedy, the Camberville comedy collective, hosts a weekly 2 p.m. “improv gym” in East Cambridge near Kendall Square for participants at all levels and from all walks of life. That means whether you’re a practiced improviser or are newly curious about the art of improv, you’re welcome to hone your skills with a group of enthusiastic and giving performers. Best of all: In a season that strains the budget, these weekly gatherings are free! So go ahead, tell your family you just came from the gym. We won’t tell them what that actually means. Note: after this edition, Nova takes a two-week break before returning for weekly workouts Jan. 4.

“Improv Gym with Nova Comedy” at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Foundry, 101 Rogers St., East Cambridge. Free.
