You may have already noticed animal prints making a comeback in our streetwear, with cheetah, leopard and even zebra patterns sneaking into fashion since late last year. These prints aren’t about blending in to avoid predators, but rather, a cyclical return to the spotlight: The last time cheetah prints ruled the streets was in 2019, during fall. (Maybe there’s something primal about entering the winter months.)
But back to the present: What can we expect this spring?
A dominant theme across global Fashion Weeks has been boho chic: lace, nightgowns, airy fabrics and soft pastel hues. (A classic boho chic example is Phoebe Buffay, the character played by Lisa Kudrow in the sitcom “Friends.”) According to fashion-trend forecaster Heuritech, this coming year brings suede, linen and gabardine, while the standout colors are canary yellow, vanilla yellow and pineapple yellow. That’s an optimistic range of colors for the year ahead.
Though these trends are already catching on, one I predict could gain more traction is sportswear with a cute twist – think mom jeans paired with oversized sports tees or jackets, or a favorite sports team logo paired with designer bags and lots of accessories.
