Aaron “Tiny” Smith takes on the role of micro-roastmaster for the brutal one-minute sets of “Kill Tiny.”

Tony Hinchcliffe of “Kill Tony” fame has made a viable if controversial career putting comedians through a one-minute joke gantlet to prove their material and mettle in podcasts, streaming video and specials. Here in Boston, we have Aaron “Tiny” Smith, who has positioned himself to do the same one-minute challenges with his “Kill Tiny” show, which he brings to The Comedy Studio with judges Jack Hall and Maddie Kelly. Think one minute of stage time is hardly enough to get going? You’d be right. It takes a very special performer to excel in the format, and it’s why roasting the comics who fail at it is has proven to be such an engaging experience. Take the night off from watching Hinchcliffe’s edition on Netflix and head to Harvard Square to see if locals Ben Keefe, Mike Daniels or Frank Allen will kill as predicted.

“Kill Tiny” at 10 p.m. April 24 at The Comedy Studio, 5 John F. Kennedy St., Harvard Square, Cambridge. $10.
