To the editor:
I have lived in North Cambridge, in the 24th Middlesex district, for more than 25 years. I am excited that this year, Democrats will have a choice in our state representative primary. I am proud to support Nomita Ganguly, the new candidate for state rep for our slice of North Cambridge, plus Belmont and part of Arlington.
I have been the head of various nonprofits in Cambridge and Boston over the years, and I know that having a state rep who shows up can be the difference between success and failure for our schools and our community. I was so impressed after meeting Nomita, I volunteered to be the treasurer for her campaign.
Nomita is an attorney, and she has served as a public interest lobbyist, not for corporations, but for nonprofits serving senior citizens. She has been a very effective advocate for older adults and the nonprofit senior centers in our state. Nomita worked at the State House as an aide early in her career, and she understands how legislation gets passed. She also is a public school parent and a devoted advocate for public education. (In fact, she is the former co-president of the Foundation for Belmont Education.) She is the child of immigrants, and brings that lived experience and urgency to the protection of our immigrant neighbors and friends.
I can testify that Nomita is a tenacious advocate, a hard worker, and someone who will listen to the concerns of our district. We could not have a better fighter for us at the State House.
