The race for Senate between Sen. Ed Markey and Rep. Seth Moulton should energize every Massachusetts Democrat who fears for democracy in the United States. If you think Markey is a safe choice, watch the recent debate, and you will see an 80-year-old man confuse Vietnam for Iran, stutter and glower and shout indignantly. Moulton, a four-tour combat veteran, calmly reacted to Markey’s callous questioning of his service: “Do not question my commitment to peace.”
This race boils down to two candidates:
Markey — the business-as-usual candidate. An 80-year-old public servant, 50 years in office, whose best years are behind him and who leans on other leaders to cling to power.
Moulton — the candidate for the future. A seasoned congressman, veteran, and regional transportation expert with a proven track record who believes healthcare, housing, and education are human rights.
Let’s move forward, not back!
