My former boss used to say that anyone can be right, but not everyone can be effective. I am supporting Neil Miller because I think that not only is he right on the issues that are important for our district, but I also think he has the knowledge, experience, skills and values to work collaboratively to bring about solutions to address those issues.
Many of my neighbors are struggling – to find a job, dependable and affordable transportation, affordable healthcare, an affordable place to live, and to pay for food and childcare. They need a State Representative who doesnโt just say the right words about these issues, but one who can play a major role in finding solutions; who understands how government works; who will listen to them to help identify the best solutions; and who works collaboratively with their colleagues and the advocates to make those solutions a reality.
I have worked for a number of years with Neil at A Better Cambridge in our efforts to successfully pass the Affordable Housing Overlay and to make it easier to build more housing in Cambridge. In working with him, I have been impressed by his knowledge about government and the legislative process, about his organizing skills, about his ability to work collaboratively, and about his ability to listen closely and his willingness to learn.
This is what has led me to enthusiastically support Neil Millerโs bid to become our State Representative. What I am looking for in my State Representative is someone who not only says the right things, but who works effectively and collaboratively to make them happen.
I hope that you will join me in voting for Neil Miller.
