Four billboard trucks with messaging such as โ€œRemember October 7thโ€ drove through parts of Kendall Square on Wednesday, with three of them parking by MITโ€™s campus near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street. The trucks were parked on street parking visible to pedestrians, drivers, and bikers for at least 45 minutes.

Other messages included, โ€œChoose who you stand withโ€ and โ€œ#NeverAgain.โ€ There were also video messages. The trucks included language saying they were paid for by the State of Israel.

October 7, 2023, was the day Hamas fighters assaulted an Israeli music festival, killing 1,139 people and taking 240 hostages. The next day began an assault by Israel on Gaza that has killed at least 74,000 Palestinians and damaged or destroyed more than 80 percent of the structures in Gaza.

Nicholas Lewis, owner of the signage company running the mobile billboards, which is based in Uniondale, N.Y., said he gets his jobs through contractors and does not know who initially paid for yesterdayโ€™s message. โ€œI donโ€™t know what it says,โ€ he said about the billboard. Each truck rents at $1,500 dollars a day.

It was unclear whether the trucks went other places or whether the campaign was in other communities.

In response to the signs, Cambridge for Palestineย said it had no comment. Cambridge Day also reached out to the office of the Consulate General of Israel to New England, which is based in Boston, but received no response.
