A vigil remembering the victims of domestic violence is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square, in observance of national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Local groups will have resources for victims and information for the community on how to recognize and talk about domestic violence.

The vigil is sponsored by the Cambridge Police Department, Cambridge Public Health Department and the Cambridge Womenโ€™s Commission, which was established in 1977 as a city department to work to promote equality for all women and girls and advocates on their behalf with other city departments and officials, local organizations and state government.

Visit the Public Health Departmentโ€™s website to learn more about domestic violence prevention.
