From the Hair Cuttery, April 12, 2017: The Hair Cuttery and National Network to End Domestic Violence are teaming up to raise awareness about domestic violence through the Share-A-Haircut program. For every haircut bought May 1-2 at one of the Hair Cuttery salons in New England, including the Cambridge salon at 104 Mount Auburn St., Harvard Square, a free haircut certificate will be donated to a victim of domestic violence โ€“ including women, children and men โ€“ through a network of state coalitions and local programs.

This will be the programโ€™s 18th year; it has donated more than 76,000 certificates to the homeless.

โ€œWe are thrilled that Hair Cuttery continues to support survivors and be a voice against violence,โ€ says Kim Gandy, president and chief executive of the charity. โ€œThe gift of a haircut cannot be underestimated. It allows survivors to save money, which aids in their economic independence, and provides an often rare opportunity to relax and be pampered.โ€
