School Committee member Manikka Bowman has decided not to run for reelection. In an essay published Monday in the Cambridge Chronicle, she said she was “choosing to center the needs of myself and my family instead of seeking another term in office.”

School Committee member José Luis Rojas Villarreal has announced that he will run for a second term, with a “pre-kickoff event” Thursday. Fellow first-termer Ayesha Wilson and Rachel Weinstein began talking in December about running again.

The next City Council will deal with the Envision Cambridge master planning process, decide who sits in the City Manager’s Office and almost certainly see the return of an Affordable Housing Overlay zoning proposal. Who’s on that council will be decided Tuesday.
