The East Cambridge Business Association and East Cambridge Families Group are looking for volunteers, especially from East Cambridge and the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood, for the area’s first Cambridge Street Cleanup.

The May 22 event will focus on the area from First Street to Columbia, starting at those two intersections and working toward the tracks, where participants will meet for a celebration in Vellucci Park, organizers said.

While the crew from Pugs Bar & Grill gets the boccie court primed for playing condition, the other groups will clean sidewalks and spruce up tree wells in anticipation of the summer months. Participants are asked to bring weeding tools.

It all starts at 9:30 a.m. from either Silva Park, at Otis and Sciarappa streets, or the boccie court in front of the King Open School, at 850 Cambridge St.

To RSVP and select one of the two meeting spots, visit the Facebook event page or send e-mail to [email protected].
