Children take part recently in an arts course at Maud Morgan Arts, a facility run by the Agassiz Baldwin Community.

Clay portraiture for high schoolers, animation for middle schoolers and the building of castles, forts and palaces for those in kindergarten through second grades are among the new courses being offered in the fast-approaching winter session at Maud Morgan Arts, the arts facility for the Agassiz Baldwin Community.

The semester begins Jan. 18 and runs for eight weeks, with a break for February vacation week, spokeswoman Phoebe Sinclair said. Online registration has begun for a range of visual arts classes for all ages from throughout Cambridge and the surrounding communities.

Some of other new classes Sinclair listed: collage for adults; woodworking for third- to fifth-graders; and an open art studio for preschoolers.
