People interested in serving on the Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities advisory board are sought by the city. Applications must be in by March 29 from residents who can serve on the 11-member volunteer board for a three-year term, helping maximize access to all aspects of community life for people with disabilities; raise awareness of disability matters; eliminate discrimination; and promote equal opportunity for people with all types of disabilities – physical, mental and sensory.

Members are expected to work with other members and board staff to fulfill the goals and objectives, attend monthly meetings (the second Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m.), participate in subcommittees and work on various short- and long-term projects as needed.

For information, call Kate Thurman at (617) 349-4692 or send e-mail to [email protected]. Applicants must submit a letter describing their relevant experience and the kinds of disability-related issues or projects that interest them, along with a résumé if possible, to Robert W. Healy, city manager for the City of Cambridge, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02139. The materials can also be faxed to (617) 349-4307 or sent via e-mail to [email protected].
