Cambridge government recently launched a mobile version of its website, cambridgema.gov, that can be accessed by typing “City of Cambridge MA” or “cambridgema.gov” into their smartphone or tablet browser.

The mobile website features a scaled-down version of the website with easy access to popular links such as the city calendar, important phone numbers and an online bill-paying function. The city and three departments – the library, police and Public Works – have customized designs on the site so mobile users no longer have to scroll or swipe their screen to navigate. For those who prefer seeing the full site, there’s an option available from a link at the bottom of the new mobile website.

In addition, last week the city’s Water Department launched a redesigned site at cambridgema.gov/water that features an “Upcoming Events” section and information on various projects and programs. The site invites users to get more involved with activities at Fresh Pond and get updates from the department’s Twitter feed.

The city’s cable channel, 22-CityView, has a colorful new website at cambridgema.gov/22cityview  featuring daily broadcast schedules, a section to request copies of 22-CityView shows and a livestream of the channel. Post-production stills and video clips for upcoming programs are planned for the site.
