100513-PN-McGovern-firefighters-endorsement

From the Marc McGovern campaign, Oct. 2: The Committee to Elect Marc McGovern is proud to announce that the Cambridge Firefighters Union Local 30 unanimously endorsed him for Cambridge City Council. McGovern is the only non-incumbent to get this endorsement. Colin Walsh, Cambridge firefighter and union president, noted McGovern’s commitment to Cambridge, political experience and proven record of standing up for working families as reasons for the endorsement.

“Marc and his family have a proud tradition of union membership and activism. His work ethic and history of public service to our community is exactly the qualities and core values that will continue to move the city of Cambridge forward. We proudly endorse Marc McGovern for Cambridge City Council,” Walsh said.

McGovern said he was honored to get this endorsement.

“Cambridge was once a city where firefighters, police officers, teachers and other middle-income families could purchase a home and set down roots; that dream is now out of reach for many,” McGovern said. “If elected to the council I will work to ensure that these working families will once again have this opportunity. To be the only non-incumbent endorsed is a huge vote of confidence, and I’m very proud to have received this honor.”
