Applicants are needed to fill a limited number of vacancies on a Climate Protection Action Committee that advises the city on climate change mitigation and preparedness strategies and measures. The committee consists of residents and representatives of universities, the business community and community organizations and meets typically from 6 to 8 p.m on the second Thursday of the month at City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway.

The city has had climate change action on its agenda since 1999 and has an overall goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050. A new set of climate protection goals and objectives was adopted by the City Council this year. The committee is called an important part of the effort to develop policies and programs to help residents, businesses, institutions and organizations incorporate energy efficiency, renewable energy, resilience and other measures into their homes and workplaces.

Any Cambridge resident or representative of a business, institution or organization based in Cambridge who would like to work to address climate change is welcome to apply by emailing a letter by Nov. 10 describing interest and background here or by mailing to John Bolduc, Community Development Department, 344 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139. Resumes are welcome.
