From the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers, Jan. 9, 2017: The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers’ Cambridge Senior Center has moved – but only temporarily, and just across the street. Due to elevator repairs at the health and social service organization’s main office at 1046 Cambridge St., which houses the drop-in center, the organization’s seniors began enjoying their daily lunches and activities at the Faialense Sport Club at 1121 Cambridge St. as of Jan. 3.

“We hope to move them back ‘home’ before too many weeks, because we miss them already at the office,” said Paulo Pinto, the organization’s executive director.

Senior Center activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, including lunches at noon.

“Many thanks to the Faialense Club for agreeing to host the center and providing such delicious meals – and thanks to the seniors for being so accommodating and helpful with the move,” Pinto said.

“I want to thank the Faialense Club President, Mr. Carlos Gomes, for being so welcoming of our seniors,” said Julia Evora, the senior center’s coordinator. “They are enjoying themselves at the club and already feeling very much at home.”
