Applications for the 2019 City of Cambridge Scholarship are being accepted from college-bound high school seniors and residents who wish to pursue post-secondary education. The deadline for applications is March 4.

In the last round of scholarships, the city awarded more than 75 scholarships of $3,000 each, the highest amount awarded in a single year. Since the program’s start in 1993, the city has awarded 952 scholarships totaling $2.2 million.

Applications are available at Cambridge Public Schools, library branches and at City Hall. Interested residents may also download the application at cambridgema.gov/cityscholarship.

Applicants must live in Cambridge; must attend, get admittance to or have an application pending at an accredited education institution beyond high school level before May; and cannot have received the scholarship before. Money won is paid directly to educational institutions for use in the 2019-20 academic year.

The program is administered by the city’s Finance Department, where a six-person committee appointed by the city manager reviews applications and selects recipients. Applications are evaluated and ranked based on academic achievement, financial need, community and extracurricular activities and special circumstances.

The fund is made up of donations from Cambridge residents and businesses. Contributions to the fund can be made online, in person through the Finance Department or via mail to: City of Cambridge Scholarship Fund, City of Cambridge, P.O. Box 2005, Cambridge MA 02139. For information, call the Finance Department at (617) 349-4220 or send to [email protected].
