Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is sponsoring free Blue Bikes rides to and from coronavirus vaccination sites. Residents are eligible for two rides available across the system’s 10 communities: Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Watertown, Boston, Brookline, Chelsea, Everett, Newton and Revere.

Riders can take advantage by downloading and opening the Bluebikes app on a mobile device and using the vaccination codes “bluevax1” and “bluevax2,” providing residents who require two vaccine doses with free trips for both appointments. Each code unlocks a free Adventure Pass and includes free unlimited two-hour rides for a 24-hour period, giving riders the flexibility to travel to and from a vaccination site. In addition, at Blue Bikes stations nearest the mass vaccination sites at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston and the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Crossing, beginning Monday there will be Blue Bikes valets offering expanded docking and bike availability to make coming and going easier.

Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Blue Bikes, which is owned by its member communities and operated by Lyft, and is contributing $1 million to the transportation to and from vaccination sites in underserved communities across the state in partnership with Lyft and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.
