What’s closed Monday after New Year’s Day
City of Cambridge offices, libraries and senior centers close Monday for the New Year’s holiday, according to a Dec, 14 email from City Hall. Post offices close as well, the agency said in a Dec. 2 release.
Other things to be aware of Monday: Street meters are off to allow free parking; curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost and yard waste will be one day behind its regular schedule, but the Recycling Drop Off Center will open on its regular schedule; Cambridge Cemetery gates will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season, but the administrative office will be closed Monday.
Curbside pickup of un-decorated Christmas trees begins Tuesday and runs through Jan. 13 on curbside collection days. Decorations and stands must be removed and trees should not be in a plastic bag. Residents can also bring bare trees to the Recycling Center.
